Green Light

Blake visited his pediatrician this morning, and it looks like we have a green light to move towards his surgery. He seems really healthy, and has made great progress in his growth. Today he weighed 12 lbs. 10 oz. (10th percentile) and measured 24 inches (25th percentile). Developmentally he looks really good too - the only thing he is slightly delayed on is rolling over (but that can easily be attributed to the fact that he started tummy time 6 weeks late due to his surgery), and he is really close to being able to do that as well. He is all up to date on his immunizations, and is ready for the next step in his adventure.

Times Like These

Special moments like these make all the chaos, drama, and heartache well worth it.

Growing So Fast

Blake is really amazing us with how quickly he's growing, and how well he's doing reaching milestones considering both his prematurity and what he's faced with his heart. He is getting really good at controlling his head, and last night he slept for 10 hours straight. Mason falls more and more in love with him every day, and wants to include him in everything she does.

Heart doctor day

Today was Blake's cardiologist appointment. All in all it went well, but we are happy his surgery is set. His oxygen saturation is lower than it has been and that is due to his pulmonary artery decreasing in size a bit and he's growing out of the artificial shunt currently in his heart. The doc said all of these things are to be expected. Both of these things will be resolved with his next surgery.

It is hard to hear that things aren't perfect, but he is doing as well as could be expected at this point.

He is still growing like a weed. Today he weighed in at 11 lbs 10.5 oz and was over 23 inches long. He's quickly becoming a chunky monkey!

Rolling With It

One of the biggest logistical challenges of Blake's condition is the scheduling of doctors, specialists, and appointments - it was especially trying on us while we were in the hospital. Well, those challenges are creeping up again. Blake's surgery has been rescheduled to Sept. 11 due to his surgeon's travel plans. Not a huge deal, but, I'm sure the first of many curve balls we will be thrown in the next couple of months.

The Wedding

The wedding was great! Michelle and Cory looked happier than ever, and we are all overjoyed they found each other.

The weekend was of course chaotic and overwhelming, but very fun. The peanut was great, she took her job as walking and throwing VERY seriously. Mason's new boyfriend, Austin (who she just refers to as "the funny boy"), had a Neanderthal approach to making sure Mason got down the aisle. That included dragging her all the way down the aisle (oddly she seemed to enjoy it). When she got to the end of the aisle, she still had all the flower petals in her hand, so she dumped them all in one place. She then stole the show at the reception with her fantastic dancing. Blake got to meet his whole extended family on both sides in one weekend, and was great with all the new faces.
