Keep On Keeping On

Blake continues to do great. As you can see his sister absolutely loves him.

He is starting to be more alert - cooing and smiling - generally being a cool kid. He is 8 weeks now, and just last week was able to start practicing tummy time (because of the surgery to his chest); amazingly, he is already able to lift up his head and turn it from side to side. No matter what his dad says, so far coordination is not an issue for him (hopefully he won't inherit that from his mom)!

Growing like a weed

Blake is gaining weight like a champ; this week he gained a whole
pound. He's now tipping the scales at 7 lbs 12 oz. What a champ!

First Blues Show

Last night Blake experienced his first Blues on the Green. Although Mason crashed, Blake enjoyed every minute of the music and people- watching.

Deep in Thought

We are so elated Blake is doing so well. All this pensive rest is helping him get bigger and stronger. He gained half a pound last week, and just couldn't be doing better.

Progress...Slowly but Surely

Blake is continuing to do great at home. He's being a normal baby which means most of his days are spent eating, sleeping, and pooping. We are continuing to increase the volume of his feedings because he's not putting on as much weight as quickly as we would like. Because all his feedings are thickened (so he doesn't aspirate them) it takes a lot of energy for him to eat, and therefore he is burning a lot of calories, so even increasing volume means he's working harder at every feeding; it's a vicious cycle. But, he's powering through and we know we'll get there. We could all do without the midnight, 3, and 6 AM feedings, but we sure are happy to be doing them at home! His heart is still doing great, and his sonograms have looked good. Mason loves having him around, and has been really good about not being jealous. We're going through the normal trials and tribulations of having a newborn and a (almost) 2-year-old, but they are certainly welcome in the grand scheme of things.
